A Look at the World’s Most Abandoned and Forgotten Places
11. Hydra, Greece
If we are desiring to witness fewer metropolises and more of the picturesque scenery, we can investigate the Greek isle of Hydra in the Saronic Islands. It is just 64 km2 in area and located fairly close to Athens, it has been a popular vacation spot for about a century. Even though it is best known for its two monasteries, a nunnery, a fortress and a historic museum, its scenic beauty is entrancing enough that a few films have been filmed there, including one staring Sophia Loren in the 1950s.
