5) Cane Corso

The Cane Corso (Connie Corso) is a large, muscular dog found in 600 AD Italy as a war dog. This dog was used for herding, hunting, and guarding because of its athletic build and strong work ethic. The Cane Corso nearly went extinct in the 1980s but has recently become popular again. An experienced dog owner must be able to handle the dog’s protective nature, as the Cane Corso is wary of strangers but loyal to its master.
